Information We Collect
When you create an account we collect your email address and the name you give at sign-up. As you study we record your activity: practice answers, model test and live exam answers and results, bookmarks, progress, and any question error reports you send (the reason and your optional note). The Android app also sends anonymous crash reports when something goes wrong: the error, the app version, the phone model and Android version, and a random install number. Crash reports never include your name, email or account. We do not collect payment details, government IDs, biometric data, your location, contacts, photos or phone number, and we show no ads.
How We Use Your Information
To run your account, grade your answers on our server, show your progress and weak areas, hold live exams and publish their results and merit lists, and fix crashes. We may use aggregated, anonymous statistics to improve questions and features. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Live Exam Merit Lists
After a live exam, everyone who took part sees their own score and position. The top part of the list (usually the top 10%) is shown to all participants with each student's sign-up name and score. You can hide your name at any time in the app (Profile); you then appear as "Anonymous", including on lists that were already published. Email addresses and account IDs are never shown.
Service Providers
We use trusted companies to run SmartPrep BD. They process data only on our behalf: Supabase (database and sign-in, servers in Singapore), Vercel (website and app server), Upstash (counting requests to prevent abuse), Sentry (anonymous crash reports from the Android app) and Google Gemini (AI explanations: the question, your chosen answer and any picture you attach are sent, never your name or email).
Cookies and Storage on Your Device
The website uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your language. The app stores your sign-in, preferences, questions you have loaded (never their answers) and any unfinished exam on your phone. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Data Storage and Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our service providers. Answers are graded only on our server. Access to user data is limited to the systems and people who need it to run the service.
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time: in the app, open Profile and tap "Delete account"; on the website, go to /delete-account; or email support@smartprepbd.com from the address you signed up with. Deleting in the app or on the website is immediate; an email request is carried out within 7 days. Either way deletion is permanent: your account, name, email, practice and exam history, bookmarks and live exam entries are removed (you disappear from merit lists). Copies may remain in database backups for up to 30 days, and anonymous crash reports are kept by Sentry for up to 90 days.
Data Retention
We keep your account and study data while your account exists and delete it when you delete the account.
Children
SmartPrep BD is meant for students aged 13 and older preparing for admission and job exams. It is not designed for children under 13.
Your Rights
You can see your data in the app and on the website, correct your name, hide it from merit lists, and delete your account. For anything else, email support@smartprepbd.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we make important changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
